Alexis Apollony, MSW, LMHP-S

Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, I felt drawn to Richmond for it's creative culture and diversity, and received my Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University. Throughout my journey as a social worker I’ve gained valuable experience working in outpatient, community-based, medical, educational, and non-profit environments. I emphasize trauma-informed care in my practice as a therapist and strive to ensure that I provide cultural competence, humility and compassion to my clients. I integrate a holistic approach with clients using a bio-psycho-social framework and person-in-environment perspective. My intention is that you feel supported in your therapy journey and hope that this will facilitate comfort and vulnerability, all of which are essential to the healing process. I am an EMDR trained therapist and frequently pull from theoretical frameworks including Compassion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also frequently use creative, interactive, and expressive interventions throughout the therapeutic process. I enjoy working with children and adults who are experiencing a variety of concerns including, but not limited to: complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, connecting with and healing the inner child, self-esteem, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I am currently accepting new clients for in person and telehealth appointments.
